How to download your NatWest statements

On the website

  1. Log in to NatWest Online Banking.
  2. Select Statements & transactions from the menu.
  3. Under Your statements, choose the account.
  4. Pick the year from the drop-down (the current year is shown by default).
  5. Click the statement to download it as a PDF, then save or print it.

In the mobile app

  1. Log in to the NatWest app and open the account.
  2. Tap the three-dot icon at the top and choose statements.
  3. Select the statement you want.
  4. Tap the export button at the top right and choose how to save or share it.

You can view up to 7 years of statements, as long as the account has been open that long. In the app, each search shows up to 12 months, so run separate searches for older periods. For a posted copy, ask Cora in Online Banking or the app (type Help with my statement).

Menu names change from time to time. If a step doesn't match, look for Statements or Documents in your account menu.

NatWest's transaction export vs converting the PDF statement

OptionWhat you getWatch out for
Online Banking transaction exportTransactions found through View transactions, saved in a format you pick, including Excel and PDFA search result, not a statement: no statement period or summary box. For credit cards, Online Banking only shows about 3 months of transactions.
PDF statement + converterEvery transaction from the statement in XLSX or CSV, with the source page for each row and totals checked against the previous and new balance5 free pages a day; more pages need a paid pack (from $5 for 30). No QBO or OFX output.
Posted copy statementA paper statement sent to you after asking CoraTakes time to arrive and still needs converting.

Use the Excel export when you need a filtered list of transactions quickly. Use the PDF statement when the figures must match the official statement, or for credit card periods older than what Online Banking shows.

What NatWest statements look like

  • The columns are Date, Description, Paid In(£), Withdrawn(£) and Balance(£), with money in and money out in separate columns.
  • Transaction dates show day and month only (for example 05 MAY). The year appears only in the statement date and period, so a December to January statement needs care.
  • The date is printed once per day; later transactions on the same day have no date.
  • Each page starts with a BROUGHT FORWARD row. There is no carried forward row at the end: the closing figure is the last running balance and the New Balance in the summary.
  • Descriptions wrap over two or three lines and include a type label such as Automated Credit, Card Transaction, OnLine Transaction or Direct Debit. The amount and balance sit on the last line of the block, and some descriptions contain their own dates (for example FP 12/05/26).

Tips for converting NatWest statements

  • Remove every BROUGHT FORWARD row, not just the first one, because one appears at the top of each page.
  • Fill blank dates down from the row above and take the year from the statement period.
  • Check your totals against the Current Account Summary: Previous Balance plus Paid In minus Withdrawn should equal New Balance.
  • Don't mistake a date inside a description (such as FP 14/05/25) for the transaction date. Use the Date column.

Sample data

Every extracted row sits next to the page it came from, and the totals are checked against the opening and closing balances printed on the statement. This example uses made-up data, not a real NatWest statement.

Statements are PDFs. You can export transactions from View transactions in Online Banking in formats including Excel, but that export is not a formal statement and has no summary box.

How far back can I get NatWest statements online?

Up to 7 years, provided the account has been open throughout. In the app each search covers up to 12 months, so search period by period.

How do I get a NatWest credit card statement as a PDF?

In the app, tap the credit card, open the statements menu, choose the date and use Share. Online Banking only offers an Excel export of about 3 months of card transactions.

Can I get a paper copy of a NatWest statement?

Yes. Ask Cora in Online Banking or the app and type Help with my statement.

Why is there no year on my NatWest transaction dates?

NatWest prints day and month on each line and shows the year in the statement date and period. Add the year when you convert.
