Convert Chase bank statements to Excel or CSV

You need Chase transactions in a spreadsheet, maybe for bookkeeping, a tax return or a loan application, but older months are only available as PDF statements. This page shows where to download Chase statements on the web and in the app, when Chase's own activity download is enough, and what to watch for in the Chase statement layout when you convert it.

How to download your Chase statements

On the website

  1. Sign in at chase.com.
  2. Open the main menu (the icon in the top-left corner of your dashboard) and choose "Statements & documents".
  3. Select the account and the year you need.
  4. Use the download or save icon next to a statement to save it as a PDF.
  5. Repeat for each month. Statements are listed one per billing period, so download every month in the range you need.

In the mobile app

  1. Open the Chase Mobile app and sign in.
  2. Tap the Profile & Settings icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Under Document manager, choose "Statements & documents", then "Statements".
  4. Pick the account, year and statement. It opens as a PDF that you can save or share to your computer.

Depending on the account type, Chase lets you access up to 7 years of statements online. Use the year selector to reach older months. For anything older than what appears online, contact Chase customer service.

Menu names change from time to time. If a step doesn't match, look for Statements or Documents in your account menu.

Chase's own activity download vs converting the PDF

Chase activity download (CSV, plus Quicken and QuickBooks files for many accounts)Transactions from the account activity page for a date range you choose; the CSV opens directly in ExcelOnly covers a recent activity window, not your full statement history; some users report the Quicken option returning a CSV instead

If the months you need are still in the activity window, Chase's CSV download is the quickest route. For older periods, or when you need numbers that match the statement exactly (for an accountant, lender or audit), convert the PDF statements.

What Chase statements look like

  • Checking statements do not use one running ledger. Transactions are grouped into sections such as "Deposits and Additions" and "Electronic Withdrawals", each with Date, Description and Amount columns and its own total.
  • Amounts in the withdrawal section are printed without a minus sign; the direction comes from the section heading, so a converter has to carry it over.
  • Transaction dates are printed as MM/DD with no year. The year appears only in the statement period at the top, which matters for statements that run from December into January.
  • There is no balance on each transaction line. Balances appear in a separate "Daily Ending Balance" table listing end-of-day amounts.
  • Credit card statements list activity under headings such as "Payments and Other Credits" and "Purchase", with columns Date of Transaction, Merchant Name or Transaction Description and $ Amount; payments and credits carry a minus sign.

Tips for converting Chase statements

  • ACH and wire descriptions on Chase checking statements often wrap over three or four lines. Check that each wrapped description stays attached to one transaction rather than becoming extra rows.
  • Add up Deposits and Additions and Electronic Withdrawals in your spreadsheet and compare them with the Checking Summary on page 1 before importing anything.
  • For Chase credit cards, import into a credit card account in QuickBooks or Xero, not a bank account, so payments reduce the card balance instead of looking like income.
  • If you convert with bankstatementconverters.net, use the Source page column to jump back to the exact statement page when a total does not match.

Sample data

Every extracted row sits next to the page it came from, and the totals are checked against the opening and closing balances printed on the statement. This example uses made-up data, not a real Chase statement.

Chase statement questions

Can I download Chase statements as Excel?

Not directly. Chase statements download as PDF. You can download recent account activity as a CSV that opens in Excel, but for older months you need to convert the PDF statements.

How far back can I get Chase statements online?

Depending on the account type, up to 7 years under Statements & documents on chase.com or in the Chase Mobile app. For older statements, contact Chase customer service.

Why doesn't my Chase CSV match my statement?

The activity download is a live transaction feed for the dates you pick, not a copy of the statement. Pending items, a date range that doesn't line up with the billing cycle, or a window that doesn't reach back far enough can all cause differences.

Why do Chase statement dates have no year?

Chase prints transaction dates as MM/DD and shows the year only in the statement period. When you convert, take the year from the period, and watch December items on statements that close in January.

Can I download several Chase statements at once?

Statements are listed one per billing period, so you usually save them one at a time. Download each month you need, then convert them together.
