PNC keeps online statements for up to 7 years for checking and savings accounts, up to 4 years for credit cards, and up to 5 years for mortgages and home equity loans. Online statement history may not be available for closed accounts. For anything outside those windows, contact PNC customer service or a branch; PNC notes that a fee may be charged for paper statement requests.
Menu names change from time to time. If a step doesn't match, look for Statements or Documents in your account menu.
PNC's own activity download vs converting the PDF
| Option | What you get | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Account activity download (online banking) | A file of posted transactions for a date range, usually offered as a spreadsheet (CSV) or Quicken/QuickBooks-style file from the account activity page | Covers a much shorter window than statements; each Virtual Wallet account (Spend, Reserve, Growth) is exported separately; no opening and closing balances to reconcile against |
| PDF statement | The official monthly record, 7 years back for checking and savings | Not editable; deposits and deductions are split into separate sections and dates have no year |
| PDF statement + bankstatementconverters.net | XLSX or CSV from the statement with Money out / Money in or a signed Amount column, ISO dates, optional Balance and source page; totals checked against the opening and closing balances | 5 free pages a day without an account; no QBO/OFX output |
Use PNC's activity download for recent transactions you want in Quicken or QuickBooks quickly. Use the PDF statements when you need older months or figures that tie exactly to the bank's opening and closing balances.
What PNC Bank statements look like
- Activity is split by type rather than listed in one running ledger: Deposits and Other Additions, Banking/Debit Card Withdrawals and Purchases, Online and Electronic Banking Deductions, and Other Deductions each have their own table.
- Each transaction table has only Date, Amount and Description columns. Dates are printed as MM/DD with no year; the year is in the statement period at the top.
- There is no balance on each transaction line. A Daily Balance Detail section lists end-of-day balances for days with activity, in several date/balance pairs across the page.
- A Virtual Wallet statement covers the Spend account and can also include the linked Reserve and Growth accounts, so one PDF may hold more than one account's transactions.
- Balance Summary and Transaction Summary tables at the top contain totals and counts, not transactions.
Tips for converting PNC Bank statements
- Before importing, compare your converted deposit and deduction totals with the Deposits and other additions and Checks and other deductions figures in the Balance Summary.
- If a Virtual Wallet statement includes Spend, Reserve and Growth, split the rows by account so each one reconciles to its own beginning and ending balance.
- Transfers between your own Virtual Wallet accounts appear as a deduction in one account and an addition in another; in your books, record them as transfers, not income or expenses.
- Credit card statements are only kept online for 4 years, so download those PDFs earlier than you would for checking.

How you check the result
Sample dataEvery extracted row sits next to the page it came from, and the totals are checked against the opening and closing balances printed on the statement. This example uses made-up data, not a real PNC Bank statement.
