How to download your U.S. Bank statements

On the website

  1. Sign in to U.S. Bank online banking at usbank.com.
  2. Open Accounts in the top menu, then go to your statements and documents.
  3. Choose the document type (statements) and pick the account from the dropdown.
  4. Change the document year if you need an older statement.
  5. Select the statement link to view it, then download or print the PDF.

In the mobile app

  1. Open the U.S. Bank Mobile App and sign in.
  2. From the main menu, choose Statements & docs, then eStatements.
  3. Pick the account and, if needed, a different year.
  4. Open the statement and download it to save or share the PDF.

U.S. Bank shows up to seven years of eStatements in online and mobile banking. You can order copies of statements in that window from the statements page (a fee may apply, and the site warns you before you confirm). Statements older than seven years are not available. Once an account is closed, its statements disappear from digital banking; call 800-872-2657, visit a branch or write to Customer Care to request them (free for consumer accounts, business accounts may be charged).

Menu names change from time to time. If a step doesn't match, look for Statements or Documents in your account menu.

U.S. Bank's own transaction download vs converting the PDF

OptionWhat you getWatch out for
Transaction download (online banking)Spreadsheet (.CSV), Quicken (.QFX) or QuickBooks (.QBO) file for a date range you choose, from the download icon on the account's Transactions tileOnly the last three years of transactions; not available in the mobile app; it is a list of posted transactions, not the statement with its opening and closing balances
PDF statementThe official monthly record with beginning and ending balances, available for up to seven yearsNot editable; deposits and withdrawals are in separate sections, so you can't sort or total it as a single ledger
PDF statement + bankstatementconverters.netXLSX or CSV built from the statement, with Money out / Money in or one signed Amount column, ISO dates and each row linked to its source page; totals are checked against the opening and closing balances5 free pages a day without an account; no QBO/OFX output, so for a direct QuickBooks bank-feed file use the bank's own .QBO download where it covers your dates

If the period you need is within the last three years, the bank's CSV or QBO download is the quickest route. For anything three to seven years back, or when you need numbers that match the statement exactly (for a lender, an accountant or a reconciliation), work from the PDF statements.

What U.S. Bank statements look like

  • Checking statements group transactions by type, with separate sections such as Deposits / Credits, Card Withdrawals and Other Withdrawals, rather than one chronological list. After converting, sort by date if you want a single running ledger.
  • Transaction lines show the month and day only (for example "Nov 24"); the year appears in the statement period at the top. A statement that spans December and January needs the right year on each row.
  • There is no balance column next to each transaction. Instead, a Balance Summary near the end lists the ending balance for each day the balance changed, laid out in several side-by-side date/balance columns.
  • Card withdrawals can be grouped under a card number with a subtotal line, and each section ends with a total. Subtotals and totals are not transactions and should not end up as rows in your spreadsheet.
  • A statement can include a relationship summary listing several accounts and, for some customers, a linked reserve line or overdraft account with its own activity section.

Tips for converting U.S. Bank statements

  • Use the section totals printed on the statement (deposits, card withdrawals, other withdrawals) to check your spreadsheet: each column total should match before you import anything.
  • For three to seven years of history, download one PDF per month and convert them in date order; the closing balance of each month should equal the opening balance of the next.
  • If you only need recent activity for QuickBooks, use U.S. Bank's own .QBO download for those dates and convert the PDF statements only for the older months.
  • When a statement covers more than one account, split or filter the rows by account before importing so each account is reconciled on its own.

Sample data

Every extracted row sits next to the page it came from, and the totals are checked against the opening and closing balances printed on the statement. This example uses made-up data, not a real U.S. Bank statement.

U.S. Bank statement questions

Can I download U.S. Bank transactions as Excel or CSV?

Yes, for recent activity. In online banking, open the account, select the download icon on the Transactions tile and choose Spreadsheet (.CSV), Quicken (.QFX) or QuickBooks (.QBO). The download covers up to three years and is not available in the mobile app.

How far back can I get U.S. Bank statements?

Up to seven years of eStatements are available in online and mobile banking. U.S. Bank does not provide statements older than seven years.

How do I get statements for a closed U.S. Bank account?

Closed accounts no longer show statements in digital banking. Call 800-872-2657, visit a branch or mail a written request; copies are free for consumer accounts and may carry a fee for business accounts.

Why doesn't my U.S. Bank statement show a running balance?

Transactions are listed by type without a balance on each line. The daily ending balances are in the Balance Summary section, which you can use to spot-check a running balance you calculate yourself.

Does U.S. Bank charge for statement copies?

Viewing and downloading eStatements is free. Ordering copies may carry a fee, and U.S. Bank shows a notice before you confirm the order.
