How to download your Truist statements
On the website
- Sign in to Truist Online Banking at truist.com.
- Open Documents, where Truist keeps account statements and tax documents.
- Select the account and the statement period you need.
- Open the statement and download the PDF from the viewer.
In the mobile app
- Sign in to the Truist Mobile app.
- Open the account, or the app menu, and look for the documents or statements option.
- Choose the statement period, open it and save or share the PDF.
For paperless statements, Truist keeps up to 7 years for deposit and brokerage accounts, up to 2 years for credit cards, up to 24 months for home equity lines, personal loans and auto loans, and up to 18 months for mortgage and trust accounts. Truist says the exact retention period for each product is shown in Online Banking under Documents. For anything older, contact Truist.
Menu names change from time to time. If a step doesn't match, look for Statements or Documents in your account menu.
Truist's own options vs converting the PDF
| Option | What you get | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Quicken / QuickBooks Direct Connect | Truist account information synced into Quicken or QuickBooks | An optional service that may carry additional fees; it only covers recent activity and does not reproduce your statements |
| PDF statement | The official record with account summary totals, online for up to 7 years for deposit accounts | Not editable; withdrawals and deposits are listed in separate sections with month/day dates |
| PDF statement + bankstatementconverters.net | XLSX or CSV from the statement with Money out / Money in or one signed Amount column, ISO dates, optional Balance and source page; totals checked against the opening and closing balances | 5 free pages a day without an account; no QBO/OFX output |
If you already sync Truist with Quicken or QuickBooks, that covers day-to-day activity. When you need a spreadsheet of past months that ties to the statement totals, for example for a lender, an audit or catching up on books, convert the PDF statements.
What Truist statements look like
- Checking statements list Other withdrawals, debits and service charges and Deposits, credits and interest as separate sections, each ending with a total line, instead of one chronological ledger.
- Transaction tables have DATE, DESCRIPTION and AMOUNT($) columns. Dates are printed as MM/DD without the year; the year appears in the statement period and balance dates.
- There is no running balance on each transaction line. The account summary shows the previous balance, total withdrawals, total deposits and new balance for the period.
- For businesses, deposit accounts and credit lines with the same entity name, address and Tax ID may be combined into one PDF statement, so one file can contain several accounts.
- Statements from before the 2022 BB&T and SunTrust conversion carry those banks' branding and layouts, so older and newer statements can look different.
Tips for converting Truist statements
- Check your converted withdrawals and deposits against the Total other withdrawals and Total deposits lines printed on the statement before importing.
- If a business statement combines several accounts, split the rows by account so each one reconciles to its own beginning and ending balance.
- Download credit card and loan statements early: they are kept online for a much shorter time than checking statements.
- Skip the How to Reconcile Your Account worksheet pages; they contain blank outstanding-item tables, not transactions.

How you check the result
Sample dataEvery extracted row sits next to the page it came from, and the totals are checked against the opening and closing balances printed on the statement. This example uses made-up data, not a real Truist statement.
Truist statement questions
Can I download Truist statements as Excel or CSV?
Truist statements are PDFs. To get a full month's transactions into Excel or CSV with the statement totals, convert the PDF.
How far back can I get Truist statements online?
Up to 7 years for deposit and brokerage accounts, 2 years for credit cards, 24 months for home equity lines and personal and auto loans, and 18 months for mortgage and trust accounts. Online Banking shows the exact period under Documents.
Why does my Truist statement split withdrawals and deposits?
Truist checking statements group activity into a withdrawals section and a deposits section, each with its own total. Combine and sort the rows by date if you need one ledger.
Can I get old BB&T or SunTrust statements from Truist?
Truist's statement history follows the same retention periods. Statements from before the 2022 conversion use the former bank's layout; contact Truist for anything not shown under Documents.
Does Truist connect to QuickBooks or Quicken?
Truist offers Direct Connect for Quicken and QuickBooks as an optional service, which may have additional fees.
